The Myanmar earthquake of 2025 was a powerful magnitude-7.7 earthquake that struck Myanmar (Burma) on March 28, 2025, near Mandalay, the country’s second largest city. The earthquake claimed more than 3,300 lives and caused widespread damage across Myanmar.

In a powerful show of global solidarity, Claretians from various jurisdictions have extended vital support to families affected by the recent earthquake in Myanmar. Led by Fr. George Kannanthanam (CMF Bangalore), Fr. Jijo Kandamkulathy (CMF East Asia), and Fr. Joseph Mappila, alongside dedicated collaborators Mr. Puneeth, Mr. Sibu George, and Mr. Siby, the ASCLA West organizations each contributed USD 2,500 to aid the earthquake victims. These funds will be channeled through the East Asia Delegation (EAD).
The donation was received and distributed by the Servite Sisters in Yangon, who are actively providing relief to homeless and distressed families impacted by the disaster. The Sisters expressed their heartfelt gratitude through a letter, accompanied by touching photos and videos showcasing the relief efforts made possible by Claretian support.
This outreach not only delivered immediate assistance but also exemplified the power of compassion and cross-border collaboration in times of crisis.

“We are deeply grateful for your generosity and solidarity. This support has brought hope and comfort to many who have lost everything,” the Servite Sisters wrote.
The Claretians remain united in prayer and action with the people of Myanmar during this difficult time.
