In response to Pope Francis’ call for the Jubilee Year, efforts to accompany and ignite God’s love among people—especially youth—have borne fruit. On March 9, 2025, a new Vietnamese community was established at Hikone Church in Shiga Province, approximately 100 km from Kyoto City.

This vibrant community consists of 100 young members aged 18 to 40. While founding the community was a significant milestone, maintaining and developing it remains a greater challenge. Guided by the words of Bishop Joseph Abella, shared during the pastoral care meeting for Vietnamese migrants held from March 18–19, 2025, at the Fukuoka Diocese seminary, the community embraces the mission to “love the people we serve and accompany.”
With God’s grace and this spirit of love, the community embarks on a hopeful journey of faith and growth.
