In Loving Memory: Taiwan Faithful Celebrate Life of Fr. Mario

ree

On October 25, the church was filled not with somber silence, but with a palpable, warm energy. The Taiwanese community, a family Fr. Mario had served with all his heart, had gathered not to say a final goodbye, but to celebrate his life.

The air was thick with memory. Photos near the altar showed Fr. Mario’s journey—his beaming smile at a parish picnic, his patient stance while listening to an elderly parishioner, his hands raised in prayer at this very altar. He wasn't just a priest to them; he was a spiritual father, a friend who had learned their language to hear their confessions and share their joys.

As the community lifted their voices in song, the liturgy felt less like a funeral and more like a prayer of immense gratitude. They were not mourning a loss, but honoring a life that had profoundly touched theirs. The final blessing was not an end, but a sending forth—a charge to carry forward the same selfless love that Fr. Mario had so freely given. In that sacred space, it was clear that while Fr. Mario had been called home, his spirit remains vibrantly alive in the heart of the community he loved.
