“Guardians of Our Common Home”

Message to the Congregation for COP30

November 10, 2025 Dear Brothers,

As the nations of the world gather for COP30 in Belém, Brazil, we unite

our voices and prayers with all humanity that longs to protect and restore

our common home. This summit comes at a decisive moment in history.

Our planet—God’s precious gift—groans under the weight of greed,

neglect, and violence. The healing of the wounds of the planet begins with

mending fraternity through dialogue and concrete gestures of love and care.

Our common home, meant to host every creature, now bears the marks of

our broken communion with God and one another. Under the guise of

progress, economic systems continue to devastate biodiversity, militarize

lands, and silence those who defend God’s gift of creation. Such disorder

calls for a profound conversion—personal, communal, and structural.

The restoration of our wounded world must be a collective responsibility.

We cannot heal creation without healing the human heart; we cannot

restore the earth without restoring fraternity.

As Claretian Missionaries, we commit ourselves to this mission of

restoration. We stand with all who defend life and promote human

dignity, responsible cohabitation, and respectful harmony among all

beings. Our presence in every corner of the world calls us to educate,

advocate, and act for the care of creation—through our proclamation,

formation programs, community practices, and prophetic witness.

COP30 is an opportunity, perhaps one of the last, to make a decisive

difference before irreparable damage occurs. We pray that world leaders

will transcend narrow interests and take courageous decisions for the

common good and the future of life on earth.

At the same time, our commitment does not end with COP30. It is a

continuing dedication to protect and promote our common home

through our daily lives and ministries. Each community, parish, school, and

social initiative can become a small but powerful sign of the Kingdom

where care replaces consumption, and communion triumphs over

exploitation.

We express our gratitude and support to our Claretian brothers present in

Belém, together with other Religious and Church networks, who make the

voice of the voiceless heard and bear witness to the Gospel of justice,

peace, and integrity of creation.

May the Spirit of God, who renews the face of the earth, make of us all

pilgrims of hope and artisans of a reconciled creation.

Fraternally in Christ,
