Bridging Continents for Youth: East Asia Missionaries Launch Online Vocation Course
Missionaries, volunteers, and lay collaborators across East Asia have officially launched the Vocational Pastoral Ministry Course, an online formation program running from September 24 to November 10, 2026. Hosted by the Córdoba, Argentina-based Centro de Estudios Filosóficos y Teológicos (CEFyT), the course brings together participants from Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau to re-examine how the Church accompanies young people today.
Facilitated by Fr. Ken Masuda, CMF—Consultor and Prefect of Youth and Vocation Ministry (YVM)—the initiative creates a space for leaders to address pressing local questions: What does Youth and Vocation Ministry mean in a contemporary context? How does the new Vocational Directory apply to unique, local cultural realities? And what kind of pastoral conversion is required to reach today's youth?
Rather than rushing straight into event planning or timetables, the course begins by stepping back to look at the broader context. Grounded in the Presentation and Introduction of the new Vocational Directory, the first week guides participants to view vocation as a shared "treasure" and to understand the spirit behind the document.
By grounding these theological insights into practical tools, the program aims to equip collaborators across East Asia with the perspective needed to authentically journey alongside young people in their respective local communities.
